It has a framework of attractive, mature and fine tannins that allow the wine to be enjoyed on release or over a short term cellaring period.
Teroldego is a grape variety indigenous to the valleys of Trentino. Related to several local red grape varieties as well as to Shiraz, it is a premium variety appreciated for its capacity to give deeply coloured, lively flavoursome wines with pleasant tannins.
The Riserva wines produced by the Mezzacorona co-operative are produced using only the best fruit from good vintages. The grapes are grown exclusively in Piana Rotaliana vineyards, their native home.
The grapes are pressed without stems and macerated on the skins. After fermentation the wine is transferred to French oak barrels for 12 months and then matures for a further 12 months before bottling.
Nose: Dark fruits on the nose.
Palate: On the palate it is fresh and elegant, full bodied, displaying subtle notes of barrel ageing. This dark red wine has very attractive aromas of ripe fruit and berries
Pairings: Excellent with beef, pasta, lamb or even deer.
